New Delhi: Indian new President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Justice Uday Umesh Lalit as the following Chief Justice of India (CJI). Justice UU Lalit will assume control over his new obligation on August 27. Justice UU Lalit has been recommended by CJI NV Ramana, who will leave office on August 26th. Justice Lalit will have a 74-day residency as Chief Justice as he will be retired on November 8 2022.
Born on November 9, 1957 at Solapur in Maharashtra, Justice Lalit selected as an advocate by the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa in June 1983 where he has continued his practice in the High Court of Bombay till December 1985 after he shifted his practice to Delhi in January 1986.
Justice Lalit represents considerable authority in criminal regulation and directed preliminaries as CBI’s Special Public Prosecutor in 2G case. He was delegated as an adjudicator of the Supreme Court of India in August 2014 from the Bar after Justice SM Sikri.
In many significant cases Justice UU Lalit has conveyed some milestone decisions, out of which the most remarkable decision stands the Triple Talaq decision, on account of the Travancore illustrious family’s case of the executives freedoms of the Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala and a judgment on the law including sexual offences against youngsters (POCSO) act.
