Las Vegas: A Tesla Cybertruck caught fire outside the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday morning, leading to a swift investigation by Tesla.
Elon Musk, Tesla’s CEO, addressed the unusual incident on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “The entire Tesla senior team is investigating this matter.
We’ll share updates as soon as we have more information. We’ve never seen anything like this before.”
Video footage of the incident shows the vehicle engulfed in flames near the hotel lobby.
A witness, who uploaded the clip to social media, claimed the Cybertruck had “exploded.” Authorities are now working to determine the cause of the fire.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police confirmed that firefighters managed to extinguish the flames and said an investigation is underway.
Emergency responders received a call about the fire around 8 a.m. local time, as reported by KSNV News 3. Police and firefighters arrived quickly to handle the situation.
Witnesses described hearing a series of loud “boom” sounds before the fire erupted.
A bystander captured a video showing smoke rising near the hotel, which stands 64 stories tall.
Police sirens followed, and nearby Fashion Show Drive was temporarily closed to secure the area.
There is speculation that the fire might have been triggered by explosive materials stored in the vehicle’s trunk.
However, officials have not yet confirmed the cause of the incident.
The investigation continues as authorities and Tesla probe this rare and puzzling occurrence.
