Jaipur: A Nipah virus alert has been issued in Rajasthan following a recent detection in Kerala, which has resulted in a fatality, officials announced on Monday.

Dr. Ravi Prakash Mathur, Director of the Health Directorate, has instructed all medical college principals, CMHOs, and PMOs to identify and report any suspected cases arriving at hospitals.

Doctors have noted that patients often report severe headaches and fever. “Symptoms can worsen over time, with an increased risk of brain infection or encephalitis due to the virus,” they explained.

Authorities have also been advised to monitor travelers from Kerala closely. Hotel operators have been alerted to keep a watchful eye on tourists arriving from the affected state.
