Dubai: India eliminated from Women’s T20 World Cup after New Zealand defeated Pakistan by 54 runs in New Zealand Women vs Pakistan Women match ending India’s chance of reaching the semifinals.

India’s qualification depended on a Pakistan win over New Zealand, but Pakistan’s defeat dashed those hopes.

New Zealand posted a total of 110 for six in 20 overs, with the Pakistan bowlers putting in a commendable effort.

Suzie Bates (28) and Georgia Plimmer (17) put up a solid opening partnership of 41 runs, but the Pakistani spinners Omaima Sohail (1/14) and Nashra Sandhu (3/18) managed to restrict the New Zealand innings by taking crucial wickets in the middle overs.

However, Pakistan’s batting faltered badly, as they were bowled out for 56 in 11.4 overs.

To qualify for the semifinals, Pakistan needed to chase the target within 12 overs.

But New Zealand’s bowlers, especially Lea Tahuhu (1/8) and Eden Carson (2/7), took quick wickets and sealed their spot in the semifinals.

With this victory, New Zealand secured second place in Group A behind Australia and qualified for the semifinals.
