Newyork: Tech billionaire Elon Musk recently highlighted a massive DDOS attack on X that disrupted his scheduled interview with former President Donald Trump.
The interview was supposed to mark Trump’s return to the platform ahead of the upcoming US Presidential elections in November.
Musk mentioned that in the worst-case scenario, the platform might limit the number of live listeners and upload the conversation later.
He posted, “It seems there’s a massive DDOS attack on X. We’re working to shut it down.
If necessary, we’ll proceed with fewer live listeners and share the conversation afterward,” after the interview missed its planned time.
A DDOS attack, or “Distributed Denial-of-Service Attack,” is a cyberattack that overwhelms a targeted server or network with excessive internet traffic, disrupting its normal operations.
According to cybersecurity firm Fortinet, DDOS attacks are considered cybercrimes because they prevent users from accessing online services by flooding a server with traffic.
These attacks typically involve multiple compromised systems, such as computers and other networked devices, to generate the attack traffic, as explained by IT service management firm Cloudflare.
