Rawalpindi: The Bangladesh wins test series with Pakistan. The cricket team continued their remarkable journey in Pakistan, securing a second consecutive Test match victory and clinching the test series 2-0.
This marks the first time Bangladesh has completed a clean sweep against an Asian team on their home soil, an achievement that will be remembered by Pakistan and the wider cricket world for years to come.
Bangladesh has historically struggled in Test cricket, especially in away series, making this only their second series sweep in a multi-Test series, the first being against the West Indies in 2009.
After suffering a 10-wicket defeat in the first Test, Pakistan aimed to make a comeback in the series but failed to deliver in the second Test as well.
Subpar batting and bowling performances plagued the hosts, leading to their second home Test series sweep in three years, following a 0-3 loss to England in 2022.
In the second Test, Pakistan posted a first-innings score of 274/10, with contributions from Saim Ayyub, Shan Masood, and Agha Salman, who each scored half-centuries.
However, key players like Babar Azam (31), Abdullah Shafique (0), Saud Shakeel (16), and Mohammad Rizwan (29) did not perform as expected.
In response, Bangladesh started their innings poorly, losing six wickets for just 26 runs. However, Litton Das countered with a century, leading Bangladesh to a total of 262 before being bowled out.
In Pakistan’s second innings, Bangladesh bowled them out for 172, with Hasan Mahmud taking five wickets.
Despite facing some challenges in their second innings, Bangladesh successfully chased down the target of 185 runs with six wickets in hand.
Reflecting on the series win, Bangladesh’s Litton Das commented, “I believed in myself. Pakistan bowled well during that spell, but Miraz and I focused on staying at the crease.
Hasan also batted well. I enjoy keeping in Tests; it’s my responsibility. When I perform well behind the stumps, the team benefits. When we came here, things back home weren’t ideal, but we practiced hard.”
