Lahore: The Bangladesh cricket team achieved a historic milestone in Test cricket. This victory brought joy back home, amid ongoing political challenges. Bangladesh beat Pakistan and secured their first-ever Test win breaking a streak of 12 losses in 13 matches.

This win was not just a first for Bangladesh but also marked the first time a visiting team defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets in their own home.

The two teams first met in Test cricket in 2001, with Pakistan consistently dominating. However, on August 25, 2024, Bangladesh finally turned the tide.

In the first Test of a 2-match series in Rawalpindi, Pakistan posted a strong total of 448 runs. This was thanks to centuries by Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan.

Bangladesh responded with a powerful batting display. Mushfiqur Rahim’s 191 and Shadman Islam’s 93 helped Bangladesh reach 565 runs, securing a 117-run first innings lead.

On Day 5, Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib al Hasan devastated Pakistan’s batting lineup. They took 7 wickets between them, bowling out Pakistan for just 146 runs.
